Question:
It's not for the lack of protein --At least not for me!!!

I was looking through my journal and came to the realization that after EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY SURGERIES, including the C-sections, I had a bout with significant hair loss 3-4 months after the surgery. Every one of them. This proves to me, that it's not the protein (I breast fed all three of my boys, so I made sure I got every ounce of nutrients I needed, including protein). After my abdominoplasty I lost so much hair, my new PCP had me tested for Lupus (it was negative), thyroid deficiencies, etc. and sent me to a dermatologist. It was the dermatologist that told me it was the stress of the surgery and the anesthesia. It made so much sense after going back to read my very own journal and the pattern. Lite bulb went off.    — corpdiva2006 (posted on February 27, 2001)

Sometimes it is a double whammy. Just about the time I started losing hair from the surgical stress, my thyroid went south and that made my hair dry and brittle. Then, because I was self-conscious about my hair loss I got a perm to try to cover it up......a bad perm. My hair looks so awful now that I want to do a Sinead O'Connor and shave my head. I used to have wonderful hair....It was my best feature. Now I want to wear a shopping bag over my head.
