Question:
My stomach is so protruding...

I am one year out from rny. I'm so happy that I did this. I'm down 127 lbs and feel great. I do however have a very protruding stomach from the top to the bottom of my (open rny) incision. I am assuming this is a hernia. I may have had this before just could'nt tell because of being overweight. I have had four children and had no stomach muscles after that. I had a huge separation of the stomach muscles after our last child. Anyway I feel like I look good except this stomach. I have an appt. on May 23,2005 and I'm hoping to get some answers. Did anyone else have such problem? I feel like I look 8 months pregnant. But it is really up high. Needing some answers. I hope this will make a difference in my figure of I can get approved. I look like I have a football for a stomach.    — Linel M. (posted on May 5, 2005)

I know how you feel. If it is a hernia then hernia surgery will make all the difference int he world. Hernia surgery hurts like heck, but to get rid of the pregnant look is well worth it to me. God Luck, Cathy

I had a hernia repaired a little over a month ago. I work at Wal*Mart and on a regular basis, someone would ask when my baby was due. Since I've been back to work, about 2 weeks, no one has asked me. However, my roundess is high up, around my belly button was where my hernia was. I still look pregnant to me. Everybody is different though.

YES, I HAVE THIS PROBLEM :( I also know what it is! I have not had surgery yet, however, I was told yesterday that I will have to have this problem corrected. It IS NOT A HERNIA, it IS my Muscles. They are supposed to be touching and 'from having children' they have seperated. Dr. told me that I will need to get a tummy tuck after WLS & during that surgery, he/or someone will fix the muscles. No, I don't know your particular case, however, I do know it sounds a LOT like mine... Good Luck! ;*)
