Question:
Can anyone elaborate on how their sex life has been?

I am pre-op, but wondered how long after surgery before you returned to "normal" sexual activities and if changes in diet/hormonal balance due to the surgery has caused any women difficulties ie: Dryness, pain during intercourse, irregular cycles etc...    — Leslie J. (posted on April 9, 2002)

The sex is better, as I am more comfortable with myself, and it is easier to perform. I have no issues with painful intercourse unless it is around my period time and perhaps I am just cranky & bloated as it is; I do not have issues with dryness. I have issues with hormones; in which I feel I think about sex all day, and I am horny all day- everyday. I feel this could be an overload of released testosterone in my system from my losing weight and because I have PCOS (which is better with surgery and I have no irregular cycles anymore). I was NOT as horny pre-sugery.

My DH and I were able to resume relations "whenever I was ready" according to my surgeon. In my case, that was about 2 1/2 weeks post op. We did have to be VERY careful, but I was definitely rarin' to go! I"m almost 16 months post-op, and as the months pass, the sex gets better and better. I am much more flexible than I used to be I'm not tired all the time, and he can get CLOSER since there is not this huge mound of fat between us. I've always had issues with dryness because of hormone imbalances, but since surgery, the dryness problem has just about gone completely. As far as I'm concerned, surgery was the best thing to happen to our sex life. It was good before, but now it's GREAT! Good luck!

I am just about 6 wks post op and I must admit that the sex life is better than ever. Closer than ever before and better than ever. Not as MUCH FAT between us anymore. I think I am wearing my husband out. I feel very good w/ my losing these 28 lbs in the first 3 wks. It will only get better and WE look forward to it. So will you !
