Question:
What should I discuss with a nutritionist as a pre-op?

I will be seeing a nutritionist in a couple of days,what should I be discussing with them.I have not seen my surgeon yet for the consult.Any info. would be helpful.    — Michelle W. (posted on May 13, 2002)

I would let them know that you will be having a surgery which will permanently alter your digestive system, making it extremely hard for you to absorb B-12, iron, calcium and protein. Ask for a diet plan very high in these items yet also small in volume.
