Question:
Does anyone have any good recipes for the protein powder??

I am 14 weeks post op and have tried adding fruit and extracts, but something totally different might be really nice. Thank you. — Sandy I. (posted on April 4, 2002)

Try this group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-Protein-Shake-Addicts-and-Perverts/database you will have to join it to get the recipes, but I printed off something like 50. Good luck.

Here are two of my favorites and neither one is the fruit standby:
Cookies-n-Cream: 2 sugar-free "oreos," 1 cup milk, 1 scoop of protein powder (I use MLO Milk & Egg--no flavor, no sweetner), 1 tablespoon of fat-free Cool Whip, and a couple of ice cubes. Blend it up and protect it from your kids!
Latte Shake: 2 tablespoons of instant latte powder, 1 cup milk, 1 scoop of protein powder, a couple of ice cubes. Blend it up and don't let your husband taste it!

Oh, I forgot that I usually add a little Splenda to the cookies-n-cream shake but the latte one is sweet enough with the instant latte powder I use. Happy blending!

Hey, I cant stand protein powders, so a different type of drink is a juice called Extreme Pure Protein. It sells at GNC's, some- you have to look. It is not a powder at all. It taste kinda like a punch. A little tart, but a whole lot better than that powder. Anyway, it comes in fruit punch, grape, and my favorite, orange creme. It is a plastic 22 oz bottle, 170 calories and 42 grams of protein. Nothing else in it. Only bad part is it cost $3 a bottle, but to get this much protein, it's worth it. And trust me, it taste great. You can add to these drinks, by putting fruit in it, and it makes it even better. Hope this helps.

I LOVE this one - 2 scoops French Vanilla Designer Whey Protein, 6 oz SF Tang, 1 pkg Splenda and 4-5 ice cubes. Mix in blender and it tastes just like an Orange Julius!!

My favorite is chocolate peanut butter cup. Take 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder, ice, water (or milk), 1 tablespoon of non-fat plain yogurt, vanilla extract, a teaspoon of peanut butter, and sweeten to taste. YUM!!!

Two scoops Designer Whey chocolate powder, 5 ounces of water, 1/2 cup crushed ice, 1/2 container Dannon Lite and Fit yogurt, any flavor (cherry vanilla, banana cream pie, raspberry and white chocolte raspberry are my favorites), blend together until very smooth and creamy...YUMMY!

My husband likes Pro 55 Vanilla protein powder mixed by hand into 4 oz FLAT diet orange soda so the air doesn't complicate his getting all the protein possible. Avoids that too-thick consistency and tastes GREAT! (I try everything before serving it to him and this is one of my favorites).

Hi Sandy I have whey protein drinks banana flavored. I use it in blender with ice cubes, 2 scoops of that protein powder, 8 oz of water, a banana or fresh strawberries and it is excellent just like a thick shake. Works for me :) plus I get my fruit in as well.

My favorite protein powder is "Lean Gainer" made by Champion and sold be netrition.com. The chocolate is really good. 3 scoops is 50 grams of protein.

I'm 1 year post-op and just short of 100lbs lost. I feel great, but the protein powders, drinks and bars were getting monotonous. This took me a while to perfect, but here it is: Chocolate Protein Cake Servings:12 Calories ea:200 Fat ea:10g Carb ea: 3g Protein ea:25g Mix: 2C Precision Protein Powder (just whey protein) 2C Splenda 1/2C Cocoa Powder 2tsp Baking Powder 1 1/2C Myoplex Low Carb Ready to Drink 1/2C Olive Oil 4 Eggs Bake @ 350 until toothpick comes out clean (approx. 30 minutes) Eat it slowly - its pretty heavy. Questions: contact me at [email protected]
