Question:
How much weight everyone lost from the day before surgery to 6 days or so post op?

Just curious because I seemed to have lost alot, 20lbs. It just doesnt seem right. I weighed 295 on my scale before surgery and now 6 days post op I weigh 275. Can that be right?    — Laurie L. (posted on November 12, 2001)

Exactly 6 days after surgery I was down 19 pounds. :)

I started at 407 and was down to 349 at my six-week checkup. It is not unusual to lose TONS of weight at first, and very quickly. I think 20 lbs. in 6 days sounds just about right. Congratulations!

My surgeon said that by two weeks the average person should lose 5-10% of their EXCESS weight. Those that are heavier will naturally lose more pounds than those that started out smaller, so the percentage gives a pretty accurate yardstick.

I lost 29lbs at my 10 day post-op weigh in. My doc said that was okay if you take in to account that I had gained 7lbs the day after surgery-- from the IV fluids and swelling. Enjoy your success!!
