Question:
Will NYS Medicaid cover a full body lift?

I have New York State Medicaid (in the form of Blue Choice Option). BCO put me through hell getting approval for WLS. Does anyone know if they will cover a full body lift? I've been pinching my apron for months when I get my clothes on and my thighs look like two big scrotums hanging down. (Man do I have balls- lol) Sorry about my sence of humor. I have to laugh at it as it is terribly discusting. Also the area above my groin is all swollen and mis shaped (pubis area?). It is hidedous. Of course I have batwings that could allow me to take flight, and my butt hangs down to my knees (over exaggertaing of course). Anyway, is there any thing I can do or say to be approved? I'm 20 months post op and have lost 84% of my excess weight. Was 319 and fluxuate from 160-168. (I'm about 5'3). I can't seem to get below 160 and I've given up on getting to 129 which is mid range of the normal BMI. Seems I will be staying in the "over weight range". :( Guess it is impossible to lose anymore so I may as well look into the skin removeal. If it is done, will I lose 15-20 more pounds with that? I must say I'm very discouraged to have gone through WLS and to have ended up STILL IN THE OVERWEIGHT RANGE. But at 20 months out I can't seem to lose anymore. Thanks.    — Danmark (posted on January 7, 2003)
