What is the differance between LBL and a Panny, and abdomialplasty?

Hi all, I am 9 mo po, and down 100 pounds YEAH! I do need to loose 30 more pounds or so and I hope to be at goal in a few months. At first I was just happy to get the WLS, but now I truly think I would like to have ibt's :0)and a LBL or a Panny or even an abdominplasty (sp) but what is the differance, I have a large apron, and I would also like to have my mons taken care of too. I need to start researching these and would like to see pictures, or hear an sugestions you may have. thanks in advance!    — wizz46 (posted on January 18, 2004)

Rosemary, In a panniculectomy just the panniculus(apron)is removed and no muscle work is done. In an abdominoplasty the abdominal muscles are tightened along with the excess skin being removed. From what I have read, many are not happy with the results of a panniculectomy alone. A lower body lift-LBL-or belt lipectomy, goes all the way around, removes a panniculus, if you have one, pulls up on the outer thighs, buttocks, and helps a little with the inner thighs. It also helps with some skin issues on the back. This is the procedure that I had. The surgeon removed my 20 lb apron, addressed the mons area, and fixed a huge incisional hernia from my RNY. I also got a new belly button in the process. My butt and outer thighs were lifted. I was very pleased with the results.
