Question:
stomach pain, hardness, fever & chills??? 6 wks post op.
iv been looking for this question in the library and can't find a thing? yesterday i hurt myself, i am not sure how or when... just that my stomach began to hurt yesterday. i am 6 weeks post-op today. i was sore the first few weeks, but since week 3 i have been great! no soreness, no pain, nothing... since yesterday i feel like i did my first week. it hurts to get up and down from the bed, it hurts getting out of the car, out of the chair...bending and just moving period hurts! around my belly button area of about 4 inches in diameter, it is rock hard. my stomach is bloated there and puffy, like it is swollen? i woke up this morning with the chills, and a low grade fever (100.4) and i took a hot shower to make my body stop shivering and since then, i dont have the shakes anymore... my fever dropped & is now 99.2 i do not know if they are connected in any way or just coincidence? i called my Dr's and have yet to hear from them... i am just wondering if any of you have experienced this? or know maybe what my problem is? i think i am dehydrated as well, i have been in the sun (beach & pool) awhile the past couple days (about 1-2 hours each day)... but i didn't go swimming in the ocean yesterday- just the pool & not very long (that was on thursday)... but when i pee, it is just a tiny dribble & it is bright yellowish/orange in color, and that is all i go every day for a week now? i only go about 2 or 3 times a day...with baby dribble. i know this is long but i am trying to give all details... does anyone have any idea what this pain and hardness in my belly is? could i have a hernia this early post-op? i did have open RNY. low fever? chills? confused and waiting for some kind of answer- thanks a bunch!! — heather S. Get to the ER! Have them page your surgeon right away, this does not sound
normal and sounds an aweful lot like leak symptoms to me. Not trying to
scare you, but you'd better hurry.

go to the er, or straight to your doc....get some help soon!! Do not sit
here and wait for answers, this is a serious thing.

Sounds like it could be an abcess under the skin. Is it in the same place
as the incision? I think you need to call your doctor or go to the ER.

***Original poster here*** well I just got home from the hospital! I went
on Monday afternoon and was admitted and finally released today (wednesday
afternoon). Kevin hit it on the nail! I had "cellulitis" with a
build up of fluid/infection under my skin (which still feel like it is
there) but they had me on IV antibiotics and sent me home with levaquin
(more antibiotics)... as the night was moving on, ever so sllllllowly in
the ER on monday my stomach became bright red and inflammed, about 10
inches in diameter! it was taking me a long time to drink that terrible CT
can drink (2 QT) and then it took like 2 hours to get the tests back-
before anything else was done!!! crazy, i tell ya... most all the redness
is gone, and they said i don't have to have it drained? not sure were the
fluid will go, but as of now- im not complaining about not being opened up
again! hopefully i will be all better soon. thanks for the advice though-
because after i was reading everyones concern and posts about going to the
ER, i got scared... and went! who knows how bad i would have been by today
(my Dr's appointment). Thanks again, for all your help!
