Question:
Was approved today!!!! Will become a loser on June 24th.

You may have seen previous posts and my problems with insurance......got the good word today. I a soooo excited. I cried when I heard! I remember along my journey on this site someone posting that with an RNY you could expect to lose 30% excess body weight in the 1st 3 months and a total of 75% excess body weight in the 1 st year, anyone know this to be acurate?    — jane O. Congrats! We are having surgery on the same day. The percentages although pretty accurate you will not do yourself any favors by gauging your success on these numbers. There is such a variance from person to person dependednt on pre-op size, post-op diet, surgeon...blah blah blah. I decided to just let it be what it will be. I don't want to be one of these peple posting that they didn't loose as much as someone else who done at the same time....i personally don't need the aggrivation. I wish you great luck!

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S!!!!! I am delighted for you! I am just over 3 months post-op. I started at 370 and am now slightly under 300. Over 70 pounds gone! Thanks God!! Now, I stink at math, but would like to lose 200, so I am almost 50% there. Hopefully, my next stop is the Century Club! Good Luck! Drink Water! And chew, chew, chew! Karen

Hi Jane :) I, too, am having the surgery on June 24. I went to my pre-op visit with my doctor and there were other "Post-Op's" there. I had asked how much weight they had lost and the average was 30-40 lb lost in 4 weeks and those were individuals who had not really started an exercise program. I hope this gives you a little inspiration. I can't wait to NOT carry 30-40 lbs of this weight and I also know that I am going to exercise as much as possible (something I haven't done in almost 2 years! LOL). I guess what it all boils down too is we can be one of those who have the surgery and don't exercise (and lose as little as possible) or exercise until our bodies start working FOR US (and be the one who tops off the charts). Good luck in your journey.
