Question:
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF THE SILASTIC RING?

I'm 10 months post-op of open rny. I'm 5'9 and started at 337, I'm down to 200. I can't seem to get below 200 the last couple months. I try to follow the diet, but I'm hungry alot and also eat more than what I should be able to eat. I was just wandering if the silastic ring would help me eat less. I have another 50 pounds to go. The silastic Ring was brought up at our last support meeting, but our coordinator of the doctors office who runs the meetings didn't know much about it. If you have any information on the silastic Ring please answer my question. Thanks a bunch.    — Melissa S. (posted on October 5, 2002)

My surgeon routinely puts a silastic ring at the pouch bottom to keep it from stretching. We therefor can be assured of the food not passing too quickly. Not all surgeons believe in this, but it is sure working for me. By the way, two surgeons in this practice have had the surgery themselves.

How much exercise are you getting? Seen a nutronist with a food diary? The average RNY loss is 75%. Whats your percebntage? Super MOs bodies hold onto weight harder, What was your start BMI? Are you healthy as is?
