Question:
the Dr. told me the staples will be in for A MONTH for the panniculectomy???

Is this normal? This seems like an awfully long time. Won't the skin heal with hole in a months time? thanks Sharon    — Sharon F. (posted on March 16, 2002)

My Open rny staples were in for nearly a month. I had 17 of them. It was a long wait, but since I have had absolutely no incision problems, I'd say it was worth it.

My abdominoplasty was done by a plastic surgeon - who was quite concerned about aesthetics and said he would *never* use staples on an external scar <g>. I was closed with internal sutures and steri-strips, so there was no need to remove anything. We clipped a few sutures as they surfaced and that was that.

Is this a Plastic Surgeon?? You're right--this doesn't sound right to me. My plastic surgeon doesn't use staples. I had a full abdominoplasty with breast reduction and didn't have any staples. My surgeon used surgical glue which left a very thin, fine line. I had staples years ago, with my gall bladder srugery. That surgeon told me that the longer the staples are in, the worse the scarring will be. He took those out after a few days. I would definately get another opinion... All the best to you!--->Message Board (http://www.mywls.com/OpenBB)
