It depends on your other health risks. Do you have other medical problems? I was only 60 lbs overweight and I still got approved for surgery because of my other medical issues. Good Luck

Maybe you could check into the lap band procedure. I have heard good things about that. It isn't as invasive and they can fill the band with saline when you feel like your stomach has stretched out or if you are eating too much. Hope this helps.

I also was 80# overweight, however I am very short 4'11" and had the risk of other health issues, and I was approved.

My roomie in the hosp. had the band surgery, and she wasn't anywhere near 100 lbs. overweight (not even 50, probably), but had been diagnosed with diabetes--controlling with diet at the time, and high blood pressure with strong family history of stroke and heart attack. Her doc said, "Do it. It might save your life someday." She was denied by her insurance, so she saved up and paid for it herself. Our surgeon is in Frankfurt, Germany, but he pioneered lap. R-N-Y. She said the whole thing (room and all) cost about $5,000.00. She's doing great! Cat E.
