Question:
Has anyone found a substitute for Trinsicon that does not cause severe constipation?

Was wondering if anyone out there has had luck in this? I am a preop, and have issues with constipation WITHOUT taking iron....I am very concerned on what might happen after the surgery. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have my second "pre-op" appt with my surgeon in less than a week. Thanks    — Julie M. (posted on June 3, 2004)

You might want to try Chromagen Forte. It's an Rx.

I've been taking trinsicon for a little over 2 1/2 years since my WLS. I have had NO problems with constipation. The one thing to remember is that once you have WLS, in most cases most people have diarrhea. I certainly do, even more then 2 1/2 years post-op.

I had a real problem with constipation pre-op. I had my surgery two and a half weeks ago and I'm now taking my iron and so far, no constipation. I hope it stays this way, but so far, so good.

Response to Patty: Actually, after the initial recovery period from WLS, it seems more people tend to have problems with constipation than diarrhea. If you join the OSSG-Grad list, you'll see threads on this occasionally. Diarrhea is very rare in longer-term post-ops.
