Question:
I have pain in the mesh area.

Has anyone had a hernia repair with mess. I have occassional stabing pain in my ab-muscles. I am assuming this is where the mess is attached to the muscles. anyone else have pain, I am 3 weeks post op.    — Katherine R. (posted on December 31, 2001)

Yes... I had an incisional hernia repaired on 10/6 with mesh and had pain on and off down towards my belly button (in the crease where I bend over) for the last 2 1/2 months. I asked my surgeon about it and he said it was the mesh and over time it would hurt less and less. In fact, it wasn't until I read your question that I realized that mine has hurt very little this past week. :) It will get better... just takes a bit of time.l

Great question! I thought I was the only one! I get it too...and I can feel the mesh if I press on the area that was done , it feels hard.

OOOOHHH YES. I had hernia repair and had a chronic pain in the area where the mesh was stitched. My surgeon said it is the stitching pulling the muscle as you move around and it will go away. It finally faded away about 5 months post op. I had sharp and dull pains in the various spots. It does go away after it adjusts to your muscles and movements..
