Question:
Has anyone had surgery AFTER having a heart attack and open heart surgery?

I have had both and want to know if I am just kidding myself thinking I'm going to get this surgery approved. I'm not trying to get insurance to approve yet I'm trying to get surgeon and cardiologist to say yes. I am the only one I know who has those problems. I have been seeking confirmation on this. My recent echo showed left ventricular dysfunctin. I have had emergency open heart plus stent repair. I also have diabetes. they are still proceeding with surgery. SCARY. wish i could find someone with similar stats who had WLS. Lana

had a heart attack in 1999. didn't have open heart surgery but the put in a stint. 1 yr later it was found to be completely closed. the portion of the heart beyond is completely dead. i also have chf. my surg was on nov 18,02. i haven't had any problems. have lost 42 lb.

i can give you a little info. my friend did not have open heart surgery but she had two heart attacks. she was also a lightweight at 240 lbs. but she was approved for surgery and had a successful rny in sept. she has lost 60 lbs and is off oxygen and feels great. unfortunately, she is blind and doesnt use the computer or else i would ask her to email you about this. patsy in las vegas
