Question:
I Need Help With This Question Ladies.

Do any of you ladies have problems with gaining weight when it's that time of the month? Is it possible to gain 4 maybe even 5lbs? And if so why? It's driving me crazy.I feel so disappointed about this.    — Timeko G. (posted on November 23, 2004)

Boy can I relate. My weight goes up that week anywhere from 4 to 7 pounds. It's all water retention. I loose it all the following week. It is upseting, but that is how my body works. Try not to let it bother you.

I agree with the previous poster. I am SOOO bloated right before and during my period. Then right after, the water just drains out of me and I can see that the bloating is gone.

Yes, I had that happen every month during my losing phase. I would go up 3-5 pounds right before the period started and then it would usually come back off within a week of having started. Now that I have started "maintenance" I haven't noticed this fluctuation like before. So I'm sure it must have something to do with our hormones and how they change during weight loss. So don't be disappointed - it's just a natural occurrence that you cannot control. Don't beat yourself up over it. Best wishes.

Yes, my weight would always go up 3-5 pounds every month, right before my period starts. Then it would always be gone within a week. This happened every month while I was losing weight. Now that I have been in maintenance for a while, I don't notice this happening. So it must be related to hormonal changes while we are losing the weight. Therefore, try not to be disappointed - it's a natural occurrence!

OMG, I eat like a horse during the week of my period. Also, I usually am up around 5 pounds. It ALWAYS comes off, though, once my period is over. I was on the pill before the surgery to control really heavy periods, and I've had to be off the pill for awhile, since it can cause blood clots with the surgery. So for anyone going thru this, all of my pms symptoms are more severe w/o the pill.

Yes, I go up about 5 lbs during my period. I always retain so much water. I hate it!
