My GYN said that some people experience this as the body adjusts to surgery. Even though this is not a female surgery, the body is stressed just the same. I didn't have the problem after my WLS surgery but did after I had my Gallbladder removed. Bled for a month!

I didn't have my period for almost 2 months after my lap. I expressed my concerns to my surgeon and he says this sometimes happens to ladies. He said to go to my primary doctor if it dont reappear by the folowing month. Well Flo Jo visited for only a day that following month. I'm 47 and Im thinking maybe I might be going through "The Passage". So Im going to wait to see what happens this month before I see my primary doc. I say see you primary doctor if this is really stressing you out. Its better to be safe than sorry down the road. And congrats on your weight loss.

I am 18 months post op and mine has never been the same. Early on it was very frequent, I was told it was due to the hormones being released, fat stores hormones, you lose fat out come the hormones. Then it did not come a few times, now it is always on time however it is awful. I was never one to get cramps or have heavy periods and now it sends me to bed and is horrible, but it is certainly a trade I am willing to make. A few days of discomfort for a lifetime of health.

This period could very well be due to your hormones. As we know, hormones are stored in our fat cells, and as we lose weight rapidly, it sends our hormones out of control. That being said, I get the Depo-provera shot and hadn't had a period for 7 years, which only happened then because I had my appendix removed. Something about surgery causes me to have periods! Sure enough, 2 weeks after my lap rny, I started a period and spotted for about 2 weeks. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Good luck, and congratulations on your loss!

I have just had my consult and my surgeon said that after you start to lose weight your hormones go nuts. He said it is a very fertile time, and to be very careful to use protection if you have sex. He told me to not even shake hands with a man unprotected during this time! LOL

My period decided to get a mind of it's own. I was always "clockwork" regular before surgery and now, even on the pill (which I was not on pre op), I seem to bleed two weeks out of the month.
