Question:
Does anyone know if the BMI, that is on the computer the same as....

My question is that when the computer calculates your BMI, and they give you a number, and you go to the Dr.'s office will they do the same arithmetic? When I did my BMI over the computer it was 39., when the Dr. did it i could of sworn she said it was 41, something. Don't get me wrong, i will go for the one that is higher, but I was wondering anyone else have this happen to?    — Tina B. (posted on March 12, 2002)

Mine would fluctuate about a point depending which site or which doctor did it. I thought that the height that was used might have been different- I'm between 5'6" and 5'7", and the computer doesn't take fractions, so there's some a place for error there. I don't know a specific answer, but it does happen. One of the many mysteries I guess...

Ronni...thank you for that posting...I thought maybe I had gone crazy LOL...when my BMI all of a sudden came out something like 2 pts higher than it had been, though I had lost 4 lbs. I went to my dr's web site and calculated it there...I like his calculator better -- lower bmi LOL. Take care everyone!! Love ya AMOS

hi...i weigh myself on the scales that have automatic height weight and bmi calculations and i find that because i am 5 ft3 and a quarter it depends on if the machine has been set on the high side or the low side if you have a scale that calculates your weight and weightt maybe it to is set to take into account the extra few quarter or 3 quater inches in your height.....JUST A THOUGHT....
