Question:
Stinky Stuff? Probiotics are the TRUTH!!!!!

From what I understand, not all have this issue but A LOT of us do. If you have problems with very smelly gas or stool, forget Devron or charcoal pills (I have tried them both and nothing substantial). I began using Probiotics (what they say are healthy bacteria in yogurt). I buy it in pill form. It supposedly has a higher potency of the bacteria. I got mine at Wal-Mart. There are different brands which can run you from $10 to $20 for a month's supply. It SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the odor. I am sold on it and wanted to share with anyone who wanted to find a real remedy. Sometimes I can pass gas and just be waiting for that nasty stench to hit... but nothing. Sometimes I can have a bowel movement or pass gas and smell absolutely nothing! Sometimes I can smell it some but it's no more potent than someone who hasn't had the surgery. I know this is a sensitive topic, but I'm just trying to be real and I also want to help anyone who may be embarrassed about this. Wishing you the best!!!!    — poodie (posted on June 14, 2009)

That is great information. I have had this problem since I had my gallbladder out last year with my kidney cancer. It is so embarrassing. I am on my way to walmart to try this. Thanks for sharing...

Yep! I second that! I LOVE LOVE LOVE probiotics! (So does my family! LOL) Been a part of my Diet even before RNY surgery...but afterwards omg, they are a huge life saver for me and my lactose intolerance which can produce the most wretched gas! They also help you in many other ways as well...according to the Mayo Clinic they : * Treat diarrhea, especially following treatment with certain antibiotics * Prevent and treat vaginal yeast infections and urinary tract infections * Treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) * Reduce bladder cancer recurrence * Shorten the duration of intestinal infections * Prevent and treat inflammation following colon surgery (pouchitis) * Prevent eczema in children

Probiotics are a lifesaver!!! It gets more difficult to "blame" the smell on your pet, especially in the middle of a store, moreso when you no longer have a pet!!
