Question:
Is Life Water a good water resource?

I tried the Life Water made by Sobe and it has a good taste. But I am curious if it counts towards water like Crystal Light does? It contains 40 calories and 10 grams of sugar per 8 fluid oz. The amount of sugar concerns me?    — jewels-okla (posted on March 4, 2008)

That's a little high in sugar. You may want to use the Crystal Lite instead, or take 4 oz of that Life Water and pour it into a standard water bottle, topping it off with water. Most docs like only 5 gr or less of sugar. My doc said you could use about 4-6 oz of Gatorade in a standard water bottle too. Plain water is probably the best, no calories or carbs, but no flavor either.

Way too high in sugar. To get your 64 oz a day you'd be consuming 80 gms of sugar. Try to find sugar free sources for your fluids.

Good question. I've seen it in stores but never tried it. Let me know how it tastes. I used to drink Vitamin Water, I'm thinking it's almost the same...just a diffrent name.

Too much sugar although it would count towards water. I drink New Whey Liquid Protein. I get a vial (in fruit flavors) that has 48grams of protein with something like 160 calories. I mix it with water so I'm getting my water AND my protein. It tastes like kool-aid, not that I'm a big fan of kool-aid. But the taste is good and doesn't leave me feeling sick like the protein shakes do.

It is something you do not want to take. I do believe there was other stuff in it too that was not good. Read labels carefully and you will do great.

try the special K water. It is high in protein low in sugar and it tastes ok especially if it is really cold

If you're looking for water resources that taste good...I'd consider something with way less sugar for sure. I used Propel when I first had surgery, in addition to Crystal Light. I'd also just sip plain ice water. I'd fill the smallest glass I had with ice, and sip sip sip....then refill and kept that up until I'd had several of those in a day. At first getting your water down is going to be tough because you're urge is to gulp or swallow a large mouth full. If you do that, you'll cause yourself a lot of pain. Another thing to try...is the freezing your Crystal Light into popsicles, it just mixes it up a bit and you're still getting some liquid that way. Good luck! Hugs...Cheryl

Anything that has water in it is a source of water. Soups, cheeses, veggies all of these things have water. (Just so you know) But beware of sugar...Years after surgery you could begin to gain weight by adding sugars to your diet in small increases here and there over time...Then you'll stop losing your weight and begin to get "carb cravings" from sugars and bad carbs (which are "sugars" in a different form) So the more you stay away now the the better. You can find SF drinks with vitamins. The SF individual powders that they have in the Koolaide/Ice Tea Mix/Lemonade Mix section are cheaper...use no plastic bottles and taste really good when added to you own bottle or glass of tap water. They are mostly all SF.

That is just too much sugar. You may not have a reaction it it, but you could eat something following it and in total the sugar could cause you dumping. I never thought a little sugar would do that, but I tased a small bite of wedding cake and I guess the icing and the little peice of cake was just enought to make me sick for two hours. Since then I read every label and decline even a taste of something I am not sure what it contains.

That's a new one on me -- I guess I haven't looked in the Sobe products lately. You really want to look at less sugar and more protein in your drinks. Isopure Zero Carb fruit Protein drinks are 40 ounces of protein in a 20 oz bottle. My favs are grape, apple melon, and alpine punch. You can mix those with water or drink them straight.
