Question:
Are GHRS safe to take prior to surgery.

I been taking Growth Hormone Releasers for the past week to help me lose some weight prior to surgery next month. I take them before I walk and before I go to sleep. They are proteins(amino acids-Arginine,Lysine and Ornithine.) My question is how many weeks or days prior to surgery should you stop taking them?    — Robert D. (posted on July 20, 2001)

wow...this is a new one. I thought I was familiar with all weight lose schemes, but I never heard of growth hormone releasers. I would definately check with my surgeon on when to discontinue...and maybe the anesthesiologist....

You need to tell your surgeon about the diet pills and read the ingredients. If they contain asprin or other blood thinners that could cause excessive bleeding during surgery.
