Question:
High Protien Breakfast Ideas Please

Hi all, I am 5 mos and need some new food ideas mainly breakfast. I am trying to get away from my morning oatmeal so I can knock out a few more carbs from my diet. I am getting sick of cottage cheese and eggs are NOT tolerated at all. I am also lactose intolerant. Any ideas for a good high protein meal would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!-Heather    — tazthewiz23 (posted on April 16, 2006)

I am totally new and will be interested in the responses also but, I heard that if cheese (lowfat of course) was added to the eggs they were tolerated easier.

I mix a single serving box of Special K into a container of low fat yogurt. It's about 150 calories with 11-12 grams of protien.

Hi Heather - I drink a protein drink in the morning - Muscle Milk the 17oz container has 34g of protein in it. it tastes good too - and its lactose free. I also eat protein bars as well - Power Crunch has 4 flavors and Myoplex Lite bars aren't bad - I hate the really chewy ones - feel like a cow chewing its cud.. I am 6 months post op and 94lbs down. Good luck!

Try mixing the yogurt with Special K protein cereal; it will add more protein than regular Special K and taste the same. Good luck. Laural

I do a protein drink before food, so 30g protein, 0g sugar, made in water. Sometimes I have PB toast for the actual solid food bfast. Not too crazy about bfast. Sometimes have 2-3 protein drinks (30g each) before I can face food. If I start my dat with oatmeal or cereal (even no milk, no sugar), I'm just kinda not with it all day.

Protein drinks and bars from Weigh USA in Buffalo, MN. They cator to people who have had the surgury. The drinks and shakes are 12 - 15 grams of protein and 1-7 carbs. they all mix with water. Some of them hace milk protein but there are several that have whey which is the best kind to use. 763-682-5434. They will ship them for you. They taste great are average about 2.00 per drink or meal.

Sometimes I make the South Beach veggie quiche. I use 3 things in it, the Southwestern egg beaters, a bag of the shredded low-cal cheese, and a small box of frozen chopped broccoli. I mix it all together, make in a 12 cupcake pan. I bake at 350 for about 25 minutes, until brown on the top. One of them is about 12 grams of protein. Danita

I can't understand some responses on here. Heather what do you eat for other meals? Just because were programed all our lifes that eggs are for breakfast. Were making Life Changes for receiving our Surgeries. Mix it up. As explained in several OH profiles and by my Surgeon. For the Best Results it's nothing but Proteins 24/7. Cereal & Veggies have carbs in them. Check out these Web Addresses that helps me: http://www.unjury.com/reg/calculator.shtml http://www.annecollins.com/protein-foods.htm

I have my protein shake first, every morning. About 5 mornings a week, I eat some Fuji apple slices. I couldn't tolerate eggs until I was at least a year out. They felt like a rock in my pouch. I can not eat them, but really don't care to. The shake holds me until lunch, and then I have another shake. Regards~

I had an egg and cheese sandwich(well half of one) almost every day for breakfast for probably the first 5 months after surgery. You may also try 'other' non-breakfast foods for your morning meal. Do eggs not work at all or not by themselves?
