Diet is VERY limited and you may only have 1-2 bowel movements a week. EAT ALL Allowed veggies for bulk! Only to be used for short periods of time (1 mo or so)....You will be in ketosis on this diet so drink plenty of fluids to flush wastes out! You may notice sweet fruity breath, this is normal, it is the body's way of blowing of some ketones.... Good luck ! This was taken directly from my handout from the clinical nutritionist!

Good morning, Hope this helps you, Between my first visit and my surgery I gained 10 lbs. They didn't say a word. I weigh 246 and am 5'3".They probably are used to this. When I found out I was approved I thought I had better eat and taste things I may never enjoy again,I think of it as I am divorcing yucky foods. Good luck.

You would have to check with your surgeons office Some surgeons are 'die hards' in this area and threaten /and or cancel if their patients gain a pound (nasty in my opion) ; mine wasnt. If you call and they don't care. then dont stress about it.. just be sure NOT to eat or drink after midnight the night of your surgery.

I am in the same boat as you my initial consult was in sept. 05. where i was told to stop smoking in preparation of the surgery (i was smoking 1.5 to 2 packs per day) i have been smoke free now since sept. 30th , however in the past 6 months i gained 37 lbs...i started in @ a weight of 308 in sept, was up to 345 last month and am down to 323 as of yesterday....although i still technically have gained 19 lbs at this point...i do have a Dr. who is a stickler for the whole weight loss prior to surgery deal. my pre-op is 3/28 and surgery on 4/5~we'll see how it goes for me. hopefully they will not reschedual...I have been replacing (2) meals breakfast and dinner w/ boost supplement drinks w/ a large salad and small protein portion @ lunch.Good luck to you!!! :)

My surgeon has me on a 4 week skim milk diet pre-op. 3-5 times a day you drink as much skim milk as you want in 10 minutes. That is it and it works.
