Question:
too soon for surgery so anyone got any ideas on hiding huge fat apron

It is too soon to consider reconstructive surgery and the fat apron is extreme and causing lots of issues (infection, rash, noise and gets in the way of movement). Regular body shapers do not work just compress it against legs. Anyone got any suggestions?    — ceecee127 (posted on May 11, 2009)

Hi--I don't have a solution, but I use C-NYST-OIN/HC CREAM 1:1 which my pharmacy makes up for me. I have had an apron for the last 20 years and this cream is like magic. Write it down and ask your Dr. for an RX its the best. My Aunt who has large breast used to get the yeast rash under her boobs so I told her to try it, and now she has no problems. She had her DR give her an RX. My sister who is also large had the same problems and I had her use my cream and now no more infections or rashes. Its worth a try. I've only lost 21 lbs in the last 6 weeks with my lapband, but last year I wore my bathing suit alot to help with the movement issues--and plan on doing the same this year. Good luck on you WL journey. Carolyn James

This might not be what you're looking for, but here's what I've been doing. I got my huge panty girdles and took off about 3-4 inches on each side....not a great seamstress by any means...just sewed a straight line on both sides. The leg holes are now smaller, the panty girdles go up higher than my waist now, and I tuck all the hanging belly up into the girdle and it stays up because the leg holes are smaller,,,,on the other hand, I think I'm going to need a brassiere for my hanging thighs real soon. Good luck to you!

I have the same problem. Several people recommended Spanx, but they are so expensive. I did buy one pair to try, but they caused more yeast infections around inside of thighs and it wasn't long before they were too big because of my losing weight. So, I gave up on them. If you find any better solutions, I'd love to hear them. (I am taking water aerobics, and my one-piece swimming suit helps keep my stomach up off my thighs - however, it does make my waist/abdomen larger because it is all pushed up! I so want it to be gone!!! It has gotten so much worse since I have lost 128 lbs, but I still have 106 to go!!!) Best of luck!

A couple of things...If you want to try Spanx try Ebay. I got four pairs of high waist short type ones for $40 total (not each). They regularly go for $75 each. Also I had lots of problems with the yeast and what not under my breast and my fat apron..doctor tried different creams and told me to use a blow dryer after I got out of the shower, and all kinds of things, but the rash and itchiness was still there...But finally go rid of it when I started tanning! I didn't use any tanning lotions or anything, my first time was for 15 mins and I burned, but I go in about 2 times a week for the last 2 months and haven't had any problems whatsoever under there.

FOUR WORDS FOR YOU---------LIPO-IN-A-BOX!!!!!!!! The bomb of undergarments for us. I had a ten pound apron cut from my stomach that nobody knew I even had because I wore these. The woman who developed them is in Nashville, TN and was a surgical supply salesperson and thought it would be great to have something that worked as well as the thick heavy belly bands that we wore after surgery but would also be cool and just like regular undergarments. Honey she hit the nail right on the head. My doctor said I should have been her spokesperson. I do have a testimonial on her web site. This stuff is wonderful. They have every thing from plain panties to full cat suits in this fabric. Well worth the money and I actually gave mine to another patient after I was finished with them because they don't breed bacteria. When I went to my post op visit, after my tummy tuck, I asked my doctor if I could use these instead of that hot tight band and he said absolutely!! It was perfect. Try them. You will not be dissappointed. http://www.lipoinabox.com/

I'm so glad you asked this question. I've only lost 45 lbs. but had a problem to begin with that is now worse. I really liked several of the suggestions. Good luck.

I'm pre WLS, but have had problems with rash/infection/etc over the years. A few years ago it was so bad I was ready to go out of my mind! I went to a dermatologist who gave me a prescription for a cream, but said be careful as it thins the skin, which is really bad on or around the breasts. He also gave me a sample of a powder that I could get over the counter called Zeabsorb-AF, miconazole Nitrate 2%. It is a powder that immediately dries the skin and keeps it dry! Then the antifungal part of it clears up the skin. I was so miserable at the time that I stopped by the bathroom on my way out of his office and put a bit of the powder into my hand, then pressed it onto the skin under each breast. Within 30 seconds I could actually breath normally again! I had been in such pain and discomfort... wow... what a difference. In about 24 hours all the red welts had gone away and in 48 hours, felt great! Now I just use it from time to time when I can feel it flaring up. Also, EXTREMELY important-- wash your bras often and in VERY hot water to keep down the fungus that will grow in the lower band of bras. (Oh what lovely topics we have here! ha) I typically can find this at Wal-mart stores and occasionally will have to ask for it at the pharmicist counter, but you don't need a prescription for it.. they just keep it back behind the counter. It's about $5 for 2.5 ounces which last me over a year! One thing to know though is after you put it on, immediately wash your hands as it will dry them out like crazy! Good luck!
