POST OP ACNE?

HAS ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH ACNE AFTER WLS? IF SO WHAT DID YOU DO TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM?    — latreshar (posted on August 8, 2009)

I had rny gastric bypass on 7/27 and w/i days my face was breaking out. Followed up with surgeon on 8/5 and he said that some people go through phases similar to PUBERTY after surgery! regular menstruation...your body is changing...hormones in flux...estrogen surges...mood swings...won't last forever. Ask your loved ones to be kind, and be kind to yourself! Your body is changing in many ways!

Yep! I understand it as stemming from the hormones that are stored up in your fat tissues. As you lose weight you are releasing all of that, which for some of us equals breakouts. It won't last forever. Soon all that excess weight will be gone. Or at last enough of it to be shed of those stored hormones.

Yes... Hormon issues due to your rapidly changing body and weight loss.... it really will settle down after a month or two.

Sorry to tell u this but 6 1/2 years post op and I still have it. It's a pain but I just deal with it. I make sure I wash my face often, I don't wear makeup if I don't have to, and I make wash my makeup off as soon as I get home at the end of the day. I don't eat anything that will trigger acne. Occasionally if it gets really bad or won't clear up in a timely manner I have to take a course of antibiotics. It's strange the changes our bodies make due to the surgery.
