Question:
Need good caring wls - friendly pcp in Baltimore. MD. Please help!
Hi everyone, it's time for me to find another "pcp" because I don't feel comfortable around him anymore. It all began when I requested for a referral, for wls and he told me, that's for people who weigh 400-500lbs (frowning his face) at that time I weighed 290 but now 320. I replied strongly - NO IT IS NOT!!(he should not have frowned his face making me feel stupid) it is for people 100 or more lbs over weight. He was a "BUTT" then and a "BUTT" still, although I am approved. I don't won't him caring for me post-op. Thanx in advance. Baltimore, MD — JUNE P. (posted on March 12, 2003)

hi June (love your name, I was born in June, were you?) and greetings from
Charm City.
I don't know where you are located in Baltimore, or what the limitations on
your health insurance are, but my PCP is pretty good. She has referred me
for WLS (you can read my progress on my profile; I've only just started my
journey). I've been seeing her for more than 10 years and we've forged a
respectable doctor/patient relationship. I'll be the first to admit that
I'm not the easiest patient to deal with. She does not have a negative
attitude toward obese patients.
Anyway, her name is Dr. Sandra Hairston and she's at Wyman Park Medical
Center, which is part of the Johns Hopkins health system. The number at the
center is 410-338-3000. She's in Internal Medicine.

Hi June, I had my surgery done in Baltimore (John's Hopkins) but my PCP is
in Olney, Maryland. Dr. Dennis Hannon. He is wonderful. I started out at
your weight, he actually suggested I look into the surgery. I have been
seeing him for 12 years. He takes the time to listen to his patients. He
is a very caring, doctor and person. Good luck to you on your journey.
