Question:
I'm currenty 3yrs out.

In march I had a hernia removed. I now think I have another one. I'm going to see the doctor on friday. I'm very tired. Has anyone experienced this before?    — mamita093 (posted on February 26, 2007)

Hi there! I am sorry to hear about how you feel. I too had hernia(s) removed back in October of last year. I had internal ones. The "pit" that was made because of them caused my intestines to fall in them and get a kink in them. They were wrapped and turned. I now feel like either the hernia's have returned or the healing is not complete. I am also tired. I am sorry that I cannot help you with a definite answer though...but you are not alone. I had my R-Y back in 2003. I will be interested to read other post for your question as well! Blessings! Teresa

When were your last labs run? Did you get copies and compared them to the ones before? I'm guessing you have not been taking iron since your surgery? Could be iron, B12, depression, hormones, thyroid....... Are you due for a good work up any time soon? ... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG ... that's where I'd send you to ask other long terms how they solved that problem.

Hi Jen, thanks for writing. Hernias can happen any time. It would be nice if it were limited to the healing time after surgery, but that is not the case. I am also 3 years out this month, and am having more fatigue than usual as well. I go for my annual visit in a few weeks, so I will ask my questions and look at the blood work then. A visit with your doctor is a good idea and get a full check up. Be sure you are taking all the vitamins and calcium you are supposed to and perhaps beef up your protein. I know that could be an issue for me. I would be interested in the results of your visit this week. If you would, please let us know how you make out. Thanks. Patricia P

My surgeon found a herhia when he went in to do my RNY and removed it at the same time. If you do have another one, it will probably need to be removed, esp. if it is causing you trouble or pain. Don't be lifting anything heavy in the meantime.
