I have lost 130 pounds and did not need to have plastic surgery. It depends on how much you work out and on your skin type. Some can firm up from the workouts while others will not. It all depends on your skin tone.

Hello Paula. I've lost about 160 pounds - all of it in the first year. I have no "overhang" at all; in fact, I have very little sag. I was 42 years old at time of surgery. I have done next to no exercise. While I'm certain I am not "the norm", at least I'm proof that it is possible. Good luck to you. Kevin

I was convinced that being so young and only needing to lose 90-100 lbs that I would snap back. However I most CERTAINLY need cosmetic surgery to put my breasts back where they belong. The up side is I feel sooooo much better and look so much better even with saggy breasts that I dont care !!!

I think it all depends on how much weight you have to lose and how long you were obese. A person who has surgery at 250 is not going to have as much extra skin as someone who had surgery at 450. The longer the span you remained obese will be a determining factor also. If you have only been obese for 2 years lets say...your skin elasticity will be a lot better than if you have been obese for over 10 years or more.

Paula, I am 43, lost 170 pounds and actually would only need the surgery on my breasts at this point. My legs look like sharpai puppys also but, I guess I am just not too vain about it. If you are younger, I think that you will snap back better. I would also urge everyone to give it "at least" a year after losing the weight as your body has a tendency to tighten some of it up in time. I was soo upset the first year and Michelle Curran told me to give it time. I did, and even though, things are not looking "great" they are better than that first year. Good luck to you.
