You should check with your surgeon to verify his requirements. However, my
doctor has me taking Calcium 3x a day, for a total of 1500 mg spread out
throughout the day. I had RNY 5 yrs ago. I take VIACTIV Calcium Plus D soft
chews, caramel flavor. They contain 500 iu Vit D, 500mg Calcium, 40 mcg
Vit K. It is almost like a little treat. It only has 3 grams of sugar,
and 4 gr of carbs. Hope this helps.

I also take the chewable Viactin but in the sugarfree form and mine is the
store brand at Giant. Like the previous poster.....it IS like a little
treat each day.

I have a concern with this VIACTIV Calcium Plus D, don't gastric bypass
patients need calcium citrate?

Yes RNY patients need to make sure they take calcium citrate because we
don't have the acid in our pouches to effectively break down calcium
carbonate. I use Celebrate chewable 500 three times a day. I am 10 months
out and all my labs are normal no defeincies :) There are many others out
there if you google chewable calcium citrate

Celebrate Calcium is all you need to take also celebrate multi vitiamin
and they have spray vitiamin B12 you can get them online good luck

I take TwinLabs Calcium Citrate chewables, available from The Vitamin
Shoppe and other health food stores. It tastes good, and it's fairly
inexpensive, and there are no carbs or calories to mess with.

Sam's Club - Member's Mark Calcium Citrate w/D is $10.00 for a bottle of
400 caplets. Each is 630 mg of calcium. My surgeon loves Sam's Club.
Complete Multi vit. are about $12.00 for 450 tabs. Super B complex with C
are $10.00 for 300.
Doc has been doing wls since 1978 and his patients all do well on Sam's
supplements.

Costco just got in a liquid calcium citrate with magnesium and vit D. It is
500 grams per Tbs. They also got the liquid vitamins as well. I take the
calcium 3 times a day.
