I think that since you are having GYN problems, you should call your GYN that did your procedure. Good luck to you, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

I had RNY surgery Dec 26, 2007 and I also had the surgery to stop my periods. Matter a fact I started my period before I even left the hospital from having RNY. For the first 4 months after surgery I spotted every 2 weeks for about 2 days never enough to even were a panty liner just the pain of knowing it was there. I saw my GYN last month for my yearly and he also had RNY 5 years ago and he said it was normal. He said the more weight that I lose it should stop all together again. I did notice since the last time I spotted it was about a month ago so maybe my body and hormones are getting back to normal. The pain of my periods are also pretty bad much more painful then before.... If you have any more question you can contact me at roz_1 or [email protected] Good luck

Hi, I know what you are talking about...My surgeon told me thath she has had women that have went through menapause to start up all over again but it is such a big change to your body. Like Dawn said call your GYN Dr she/ he will most likely tell you the same thing. Best of wishes and God be with You ;-) ~Jen

hello! I too started my period before I left the hosp from RNY 9-06, but the thing is my endocronologist told me I was in full blown menopause before that day! Since my surgery I have had periods regularly. I do get terrible cramps that I never experienced prior. My Doc said it was the hormone thing, fat cells store estrogen and when you lose the estrogen flows into the body sometimes simulating puberty etc. So the answer to your question is yes, this does seem to be a normal thing. Imagine at 53 experiencing puberty again. I am waiting for mine to stop, and of course they eventually have to. ;) Good luck to you and dont worry too much, your end is probably in sight. Deb

Had ablation 6/06 was told probably would not have another period got one the next month nothing ever changed found out I had too many uterine fibroids to count, 11/06 I had uterine fibroid embolization and was told would not have any more periods got one the next month to make a long story short in Oct 07 had a hysterectomy.

Hi, I feel for you. Every surgery I have ever had right down to tonsilectomy has cause me to have a full blown period following. There is such trauma to the body, the hormones get all out of whack. With weight loss as rapid as we experience we also get an influx of estrogen that is released from the cells. This just adds to the turbulance already going on. It's best to follow up with the appropriate doctors but I would bet it will end soon. Good luck to you

Uterine ablations are not always a end the period forever thing. You can resume having a period after a while, even without RNY. Some women never stop having one after ablation. i have had 2 ablations and still have a regular period but it slowed them down where I am no longer anemic. Also, most of the time an ablation will make you sterile, but not always. most Drs. recommend birth control if you still have period. hope this helped.
