Walking around helped me get rid of a lot of gas. I also took Gas-X. I bought some Immodium AD, but ended up not taking it because the diarrhea cleared up on its own. Have you tried just going back to clear liquids for a day or two? I know it's yukky, but it should help. The first week or two is the worst. You should start feeling better real soon. Good luck!

Lisa, Bless your heart, I know where you're coming from. I assume the doctor has you on the yogurt to keep the diarrhea and IV antibiotics you may have had in the hospital from killing off the good bacteria in the bowel. I recommend Simethicone drops as needed for gas, but I would not (personally)use the Immodium as it may constipate you. That is worse than this diarrhea, things start wanting to come up instead of going down! FYI: If constipation does happen, Milk of Mag is the greatest invention ever. Keep pushing the liquids, especially now with the loose stools. Good Luck, it will pass soon!

Lisa, another thing. If it is on your list of approved foods at this point, you can try some baby bananas and some thinned Cream of Rice or baby rice. This, in moderation may just help out. This is what they often give babies for diarrhea.

I know what you are going through. This is completely normal!! I promise it will end soon. Just keep walking, it will get better soon. Did you have LAP? I had LAP RNY 2 months ago and thought it would never end, but i am doing great now! Just like the others said, milk of magnesia helps, and walk-walk-walk as much as you can- that will release some gas pains. The diarhea is normal as well from the anasthesia, i know its not comforting though. i wish you the best! and in a week or so, you should feel much relief from this! :)

I completely understand. Check what brand of yogurt you are eating....I was eating a fat free brand but I didn't realize it had high fructose corn syrup in it. Aside from that my "runs" slowly disappeared and now I am regular. Good luck - Lisa open rny 4/12/02 239.9/185.

I would tell him that you believe the yogurt is causing the cramping/diarrhea. You could possibly be dumping on the yogurt. Some dump on the natural sugars, some become lactose intolerant after this surgery. It could be one of the two, or both. I would do without it and see if you get better.
