Question:
How do I know when I am over-eating?

I am 2 1/2 wks post op, am on soft foods now and I am so scared I will over-eat and stretch my pouch. Sometimes I dont realize I am full and then 15 mins later I have a stuffed feeling!!! Just now for lunch I fixed a 3 ox can of tuna and had it on a slice of bread. I wasn't full so I had the rest of the tuna by itself! Am I crazy to be so paranoid??? I lost 14 lbs the first 2 wks and the scales haven't moved all week!!! I just dont want to mess up!!! Thank you for your help!    — [Anonymous] (posted on September 8, 2000)

You can eat a WHOLE piece of bread at 3 weeks? We were clear liquids only for 4 weeks, so I can't imagine that. My first meal was 3 teaspoons of cottage cheese. Almost. There's gradual stretching and sudden stretching. It's really easy to stretch it gradually by just conitnuing to eat slowly, like grazing. If I were you, I'd be eating the tuna maybe, not the bread, or at least not a whole piece? We were eating 1 oz per meal, 5-6 meals per day, until goal wt. I think a VERY different sort of program.
