Question:
I'm 26 and having my first consultation next week for lap band...

Any advice on what to say to my doctor? Also, has anyone my age had it that I can talk to? How long have most people on here had to wait before going back to work after having lapband?    — Lukeaug9 (posted on June 4, 2007)

Hey Lucas, congrats. I myself took off 6 weeks after having my Band in, but I had a 160-mile round trip commute and wasn't allowed to drive that much. Most patients find they can return to work inside a week, I believe. You can email me anytime; I've got about 10 years on you, but I'm always happy to talk Band. :)

Hi Lucas...I'm 32 and having Lap-Band next month...when I started researching the Lap-Band I went with a surgeon that had tons of experience and ONLY does the Lap-Band because I knew that this was what I wanted and not the RNY. I would advise you to research the band online and write down your questions and bring the list with you to your consultation. According to my surgeon the recovery is 2 weeks unless your job is physically demanding (i.e. Nurse) then it's 4 weeks. Feel free to email me anytime and good luck to you! :) Sue

I am 31 and had the lap band on June 1st. I am 5 days out and I am going back to work today. I am a nurse and I am hoping for a uneventful return. I have very little incisional pain but a lot of discomfort from the gas and bloating. I use a heating pad, gas ex, and a lot of walking. Good luck and let me know if I can answer any other questions!

I'm 31 and just had my first consultation yesterday and I told him I wanted the LapBand. The doctor explained both procedures to me in order for me to understand it. I asked him several questions and I was comfortable with him. Good Luck
