Question:
New baby now what??

I had a baby 7 wks ago gained 22 lbs I got preg when I was 8 mo out I have lost all but 2 lbs but cant seem to get down farther will I start losing fast again or is that over know? I lost 95 lbs before preg.but still have 100 to go help please what do I do??    — APRILB (posted on October 23, 2006)

#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau #2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day #3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day (some suggest at least 60 and up to 80 gr) #4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day beef pork chicken turkey lamb fish eggs low fat cheese cottage cheese plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?) peanut butter beans/legumes You may also have: sugar free popsicles tea or coffee sugar free jello broths/bullion (sp?) crystal light drinks #5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!! #6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily

Congrats on your new baby! Gaining only 22 pounds is fantastic. Have you checked with your nutritionist or ob/gyn as far as what you should be eating, especially if you are breastfeeding? Remember, you need to drink LOTS of liquid if you are breastfeeding. And keep up with the vitamins. Start walking if you haven't already. When you are released for more activity, go for it. Your hormones are doing a total flip-flop in the post-pregnancy timeframe. Your tool is still intact. Follow the rules and the pounds will start dropping again. Above all, don't stress it. And congrats again.
