Question:
what to do with the lap band and tummy tuck compression garment

i am having a horrible time with the compression garment that i have to wear post op from a tummy tuck. it restricts me from eating and also taking my pills. the surgery was 4 days ago and i've already lost 6 pounds!!! that's NOT a good thing when you aren't trying. the dr. said it was ok for me to pull down my garment so that i can eat and take meds. i have thrown up twice since having the surgery (t.t.)and it sure hurts like crazy having to contract the stomach muscles. any suggestions would be great. my first thought is to have my lap band dr. take some fluid out of the band. but don't know if that would help. i'm assuming my insides are still swollen as well.    — cinlu (posted on August 14, 2010)

oh boy for sure you are still swollen....and probably don't even have afill in the band at this time. they usually wait to put a fill in it after the swelling goes down and when you go in for your first check up a few weeks. You should only be doing liquids i would think and sipping those veerrry slowly. Pull the garment down when drinking and taking your meds...maybe even don't take them if you can get away with that for a few day. But ask your doctor first.
