Question:
Is it better to get your protein throughout the day?

I was looking at my diet and found that I am basically getting all my protein in by lunch (with shakes, protein bar, eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, etc.) - but in the afternoon and evening I am just not hungry. I was wondering - should I be trying to space the protein out more so that I get a third of it at breakfast, lunch and dinner - or does it matter as long as I get it all in during the day?    — Wendy M. I believe you should try to space it out more, I am told your body can only absorb so much(30 grams Protein) at a time. I feel the same way, if I eat a good breakfast, I am usually not hungry the rest of the day. Good Luck!!!

My dietician gave me the following guideline that may help - 3 meals a day, no snacks but each meal should be 50% protein and you always eat the protein first and avoid drinking fluids with meals. I have been very successful with this. I believe that anyone should eat a balance of each food group at each meal with protein being the most, then fruits and vegs and carbs and fats last and the least.

I , too, was told that our bodies only absorb so much and the rest is wasted. So I would and do space mine out. I do 1 shake a day now and do 1/2scoop of protein powder in the am and 1/2 in the evening. I average 60 grams a day with meals and this shake, and milk.

I think you should space it out. While you may not be feeling bad, I think you would feel better, more energetic, all day long if you did.
