Hi! I had lap RNY surgery with Dr. Jawad on May 14, 2008. I feel terrific! Before surgery, his office provides you with an in depth list of menu items for each week following surgery until you hit the "Maintenance eating" phase. I have not had any trouble eating most anything they have suggested (just not alot of anything!) Please feel free to e-mail me with any other questions! [email protected] Dr. J and his office are VERY good! I spent a very long time researching Drs. in the whole state of Florida before choosing to go to Dr. J. You only go home with a "G" tube. The other tubes are removed at the hosptial (only 1 night stay) before leaving. I will admit, the G-tube is a real PAIN, and everyone hates it! You have to keep it in for 4-5 weeks after surgery. Many Doctors do not require this to stay in, but Dr. J believes in leaving it for a "safety measure". He has a very very low complication rate, and that is part of the reason why. I cose him for his experience (over 2,000 surgeries!) and his low complication rate- so I appreciated the tube! He also leaves the ng-tube (tube in your nose and throat after surgery) in until the next morning, but you really don't care that much, and believe me, it's for good reason too. I felt like this surgery was too dangerous and major to not have every security measure in place no matter the discomfort! By the way, I've lost 34 lbs. since surgery, and TRYING to do everything right!

I had surgery with Dr. Jawad he is AWESOME! I still have all of my tube it comes out on Monday! I know it does not feel like a good thing but trust me you will be thankful for the tube! The tube allows you to drain the excess bile and to hydrate yourself if you can not or do not feel like eating....
