Question:
Abnormal liver function test

hello I have a question about liver damage. When i went to my Primary she likes to test everything, so I went for lab work and she told me my liver function test was abnormal and wants me to go to an endocrinologist. My concern is that I am in in mist of getting all my pre-op stuff taken care of, I am now doing the protien fast diet and once i am in ketosis I will be ging to see the surgeon for the 2nd time and from there we will be scheduling a date. Will having an abnormal liver fucntion test stop me from having the WLS? She said my pancreas and kidneys were wonderful, only that my thyroid and liver were abnormal. Should i be worried about this interfearing with my operation?? thanks Rebecca    — REBECCA L. (posted on May 10, 2001)

HOW abnormal? 1 or 2 points out of whack? Or WAY out of whack? Sometimes drinking more water can wack it back IN if it's only a smidge out.

Everytime I get blood done my liver function test comes back abnormal. Something with the alkaline phosphatase level I believe. This has been this way since I was 25---as far as I had it pointed out to me. I was rejected for a job because of this (failed physical) but my bro-in-law-a pathologist says that this test can be inaccurate and they should have retested the blood. However mine always comes up that way. I had the surgery june 16, 2000 (loss 117lbs)and have had no problems (still comes up abnormal!!). Ironic thing is now my neice has the same thing. Maybe its genetic!!!!
