I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT MUST FEEL LIKE TO PAY OUT MONEY ONLY TO HAVE IT NOT WORK. WITH ME I CAN'T STOP LOSSING. I EAT ALL THE TIME. Hi Julia, I had the same thing happen to me. I had lap band surgery June 6/08. I have only lost 20 lbs. I am now up to 7 1/2 cc in my band. I didn't lose anything for the 1st 4 months and one month I even gained 3 lbs. I was upset and very discouraged. I would have gone with the RnY had I known what I do now. Then, there is my friend who had her surgery one month before me and she is down 80 lbs with her lap band. Hang in there, eat lots of protein, exercise daily and we can only hope that this will work for us.

Julia - I know that at times like this it is discouraging. Statistics say that you should loose an average of 1 - 2 pounds per week with the band. That's an average and it usually is only after proper adjustment. With this in mind, you're on track. I know how hard it is when others are telling of how the weight is dropping off. Keep in mind your thyroid plays into your journey. There will be times when you bounce up. This usually happens around TOM or when that should have been. I don't actually have TOM because of a hysterectomy but I still have the bounce. On another thread we call this the "dead pound bounce". It seems that it also happens after you've been successful for a while and is usually followed by a pretty good drop. I actually found it pretty informative to chart my weight losses and gains because not only did this point out a pattern but also it showed me that when I thought it had been forever it had only been a little while. I did this along with journaling my food and exercise. Fitday.com was the program I used. Now that I'm at goal I notice the bounces also come when I eat too much salt. I think (MHO only)that you need to get that vitamin D in control, make sure you're on meds for you thyroid, and journal. Also, B12 will be good for you because it not only helps with appetite but also with energy. Being low on B12 is the same as being anemic. Read up on that because it is not only physical but mental. B12 is also water soluible so you cannot overdose but check with your doctor on how much they want you to take. Maybe your doctor can even start you on B12 shots. Those work best for me. Everyone is different in how much they need in their bands. Until you get to your sweet spot it can be hard to loose and yes you could gain. This does not mean failure it means that you're not quite there yet. I had 4 fills and I don't even remember how much I have in there because to me the number is not important the proper adjustment is. Email me if you want to. I will be happy to be your band buddy and help you through this. It is an extremely small number of bands that fail. You just have to learn how your particular journey is to run.
