I am 7 weeks out and I am having another period I had the 1st one the day after sugery and then about 15 days later again and now today again and the other 2 lasted a regular 5 days as always but I just am really wondering what ta heck can be going on? I have lost about 40 pounds. I had lap RNY on March 19th. Everything else seems like its going well but I am concered with how much iron I should be taking now after loosing all this blood. please help should I go see my GYN? had a pap just before sugery and all was okay then. thanks    — Shirley H. Shirley - when you lose weight your fat starts to disappear thus releasing your hormones back into your body - yes...it did a number on me. I had around 4-5 periods from the day of surgery. I am 2 months/3 weeks and on the depo shot, but it was no match for the hormones floating around. I haven't had a period now in about 3 weeks - I am so excited. I am sure it will calm down. BUT it's always good to check in with the doctor/gyno and get your blood tested for iron. Good luck.

I am just the opposite. No period since surgery 3/9/07. I have been spotting since last Friday, but that is it. It is all out of whack and from what my friend tells me it is normal. I am on the ring for birth control.

Did you change birth control methods before surgery? I know changing birth control methods can cause you to have period when you are not due. Before I started the depo shop before surgery, I never had a period. then when I started the depo shot, I had two periods. Since then I have none. Far as your iron you might want to buy some iron pills at the pharmacy or ask your doctor.

I had my period the week before surgery, the week after and had longer than normal periods for the three months following surgery. I am happy to report that now, at almost 5 months out, I just had a normal-length period. I think my body just had to adjust. I have felt so great in general since surgery, I sometimes have had to remind myself along the way, that I did have MAJOR surgery! Good Luck!

Thanks for everyone that answered me . Well I am not on birth control I had my tubes cut and burned almost 3 years ago. I have always had very heavy bleeding but always on a 28 day cycle so that is what 's concerning me and I am so tired I do take iron already the dry form that vitalady sells and so I increased it a little. I have a PCD appointment today and a 8 week check up with by-pass Dr on Monday. So thanks and I will keep you all posted. thanks again, Shirley
