I have had the VSG over a year ago. I have lost over 100 pounds in a year, but have stalled since then. Of course, I could do more to lose the excess weight that I have but I am satisfied with what I have lost.

VSG in March of this year. I was 56 with a BMI over 70. I've lost 126 lbs, but have hit a plateau. I've just started going to a gym and my trainer says he's going to put 10 lbs of muscle on me this month, so I'm hoping it's canceling out what I'm loosing in fat. I still have about 150 lbs to go, but I don't see why I won't make it.

I had VGS in September 2008. All told (including before surgery weight loss), I have lost 150 lbs. Since the day of surgery, I have lost 132 lbs. I have really stalled the past 3 months - but that is my own fault as I have not kicked up the exercise like I should, and I have started grazing - which is extremely difficult to break! But I am working on it! I am having a belt lipectomy to remove the excess skin around my middle on December 9. I am really excited. Meanwhile, I keep working on the rest of these pounds I need to lose.

I had a VSG March 31, 2008. I am 52 years old and have lost 134 lbs, and am now in the maintenance stage. I am literally half the weight I was before surgery. It was the best decision I have ever made and, as my husband says, the best money we have ever spent. It has changed my life dramatically. NO REGRETS!!! BTW...the stalls and plateous talked about in previous posts are very normal with any weight loss surgery.

I am 62 years old, and had the VSG in July 2008. I would have it again in a heartbeat. From my highest weight, I have lost 136 pounds so far. I wish I had done this sooner, I feel so much better. I have been taken off my blood pressure pills, taken off my cholesterol pills, my Type II diabetes is under control, and I no longer have sleep apnea. That was my main reason for weight loss surgery, to help me with all those ailments. So it worked. I am a very happy camper. Good luck to you in your decision.

You should click on the "Forums" button above and go to the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) forum. There you can benefit from the perspectives of others who've had and who are contemplating the surgery, and put to them your specific questions.

I had VSG on March 25, 2009. I am down 87 lbs total. I feel great. I have been at a platue now for a couple of months losing very slowly. But I have not been able to exercise as much as I should due to back pain. It is getting better and I have plans to continue. I started out in a sized 26 and am now down to an 18. I'm off my sleep apnea machine and I feel fantastic.
