Question:
lap band tp ryn anyone please help with some feed back

Had the lap band 6 mths ago lost 15lbs Now I want to go to ryn I have about 70lbs to lose. I am being crazy to do this I am also wondering if my stomach is weaker because of the band and would be more of a issue for leaking? Would love to hear from anyone who has went from band to ryn    — pandavenise (posted on April 30, 2010)

This is just my opinion, but I don't think you have given your band enough of a chance to work for you. Six months is too soon to consider another surgery. Please remember that all of these procedures are just TOOLS to help you help yourself. There are no magic bullets. Are you getting fills for your band? Seeing your surgeon regularly? Eating the right foods in the right amounts? Please work with your band before you decide you need more. Are you exersizing? Your stomach will not be weaker because of the band. There could be some scar tissue, but this will not increase the risk of leaking. Have you had any complications with your band? I had to have my band removed because of a severe slip after four years, then had the gastric sleeve. I have not had any trouble. Please give yourself more time and work with your band. You owe it to yourself to make this tool work. Stay away from the things that go down easy like puddings, shakes, candy, ice cream and high fat foods. Concentrate on getting your protein and exercise as much as you can. These things would be necessary for the RNY to work for you also. Best of luck to you!

Thank you Bonnie H for your concern. I see my doctor monthly and have only 4cc in my band. It is a 9cc can't seem to get anymore fills I throw up now if they try and add any more. My band is a 9cc. I am taking care of my mother which has cancer right now so I am not getting much excerise. I am eating pretty much the same foods as I did before just smaller amounts. I am not a sweet eater. Do most of my cooking and don't eat out. I think I am eating too many carbs. I have three months to think about this and it is weighing heavly on my mind so this is not a quick decision I will make lighty. At times I think just have the band removed and forget about it but I am too unhappy being over weight. I start counsling on Tuesday and hope I can get myself wraped around this.
