Question:
Diet Coke ever?

I loved my Diet Coke pre-op! I really, really miss the pop, fizz and bubbles. I struggle getting even half of my water in everyday. Any suggestions? I am really struggling. Thanks    — Chunk-e-Monkey 1. (posted on February 10, 2010)

I was told I was never aloud to have pop,It will stretch your pouch, I like flavors so I often use welches grape sugar free packets also koolaid w/splenda is great. chrystal light is good anything to get that water in, it's so important, I was also a pop drinker and tried a couple sips of watered down sprite and it made me very sick and hurt so much I threw up, I will never do it again, wasn't worth it, your tastes also kind of change once you are away from those things that are not healthy. NO sodas ever!!!!!!!!!! Simple! You do get used to not having them, I do not think twice about soda anymore, plus they are so bad for you!

If you want a diet coke now and then and it doesn't effect you then go ahead and have it. Like everything else, in moderation.

Soda is not good. You need to try non carbinated drinks to find one you like. I know its hard. I drink Propel water it is better than the regular stuff

I'm only 6 weeks post RNY myself and my surgeon and NUT told me that diet coke (an occasional sip) should ONLY be used if food gets stuck and it is particularly painful. Something about its ability to eat through almost anything that will help you get to digest the stuck foods. That alone should tell you how bad the carbonated sodas are for you. So IMHO, stay away from the lifestyle you don't wish to return too. Wish I had advice you'd rather hear, but just trying to help in your best interest. Good luck!

I am 8 weeks out and the soda struggle is starting to fade for me. I was a HARDCORE diet pepsi drinker. I still yearn for it once in a while but I know I can't have it. I now drink my water out of a pepsi cup (comforting in some strange way to see the logo). Also maybe try a slice of fruit in your water, lemon, orange, lime, really gives it a good flavor and looks pretty. Water is about all I want to drink now, often with fruit in it. To each his own but Crystal Light is just too sweet for me right now. Good luck and take it day by day, you can do it!
