Question:
Why does the Dr. order a colonscopy and an EGD test before surgery?

Should I be worried?    — DONNA R. (posted on October 23, 2001)

I wouldn't be the slightest bit worried. The EGD is great to have pre-op that way your doctor can find out if there's anything (like ulcers or hernias) that need to be fixed pre-op making post-op a lot easier. A Colonoscopy isn't as common but (no pun) it can't hurt (no pun again). Better safe than sorry. At least you'll know that the two most important parts needed in this surgery are in working order.
