Question:
Any School Bus drivers? How long were you out of work after Open RNY?

I am scheduled for surgery on September 13. I work from 6am until 9am and then return to work from 1:30pm until 4:00pm. I have a 3 year old son that rides with me. How long do you realistically think it will take me to get back to work? Is two weeks unrealistic?    — Debbi C. (posted on June 29, 2001)

Debi,I am also a school bus driver and I am hoping to have the lap RNY hopefully in Aug. I was told by the surgeon to expect a 3-4 week recovery time. I think if you plan on that you should be o.k. Do you have an automatic or stick I think that also will make a difference, and if you have an air seat, because that does allow you have a littlemore cushion and not so much jolting, are the doors on your bus air doors so you only have to push a button to open and close instead of manually opening them, if you have to do your own under the hood pre-check you might ask someone to at least open the hood for you so you aren't pulling anything, and if you rest between runs you should be o.k.good luck on you up-coming surgery.
