Question:
Lower Body LIft on 7/14.....

I had a lower belt lipectomy (or lower body lift,) and since that time have noticed that the mons pubis area is very swollen. I'm just wanting to know if this will go down and flatten? My PS mentioned to me that he "defatted" the mons during the surgery.....so I'm hoping this swelling will subside. Ironically, before the LBL, I had a flat pubis....now, it's rather large and protrudes noticeably. Anyone else experience this?    — Diana M. (posted on August 12, 2004)

I didn't really have swelling in that area after my LBL but I've corresponded with a lot of people who did. I think it's very normal and natural. However, if you have an excessive amount of sweling or have concerns about it, give your surgeon a call and see what she says. My swelling stayed in my abdomen and also went down into my legs. You're going to love your results. I'm only 3 months post LBL and I just cannot believe this is me! Good luck to you!

I had a lot of swelling there. Between the lipo and the incision right above it is unable to drain the extra fluid. Mine is perfect now, I had my LBL in February. Good luck, things will get better. Ang

My LBL was on 7/29, and yep, the mons is swollen, as are the hips (which weren't even part of the operation except in a somewhat peripheral sense). My PS said the swelling tends to move "south" this way. In addition to the abdominal binder, I'm wearing the spandex support garments I'd worn before my LBL just to try to address the swelling in the mons and thigh area. I dunno how long it'll take to go down, I've often read it takes months and months to go away entirely, and often about three months to go away most of the time.<P>Hurry up and de-swell, I'm two weeks behind you and need to see those ahead of me healing up fast! :-D

That area also seemed quite large to me post-op. I also had fat lipo'd from the area. My surgeon told me to wear a panty girdle that would hold that area in tight. A few days of that, and the swelling diappeared, and it looks quite normal now.

I am 1 week post op from an abdominoplasty and my pubic area was lifted during the procedure---yea!! The position of it is great, but mine too is swollen. I am glad to hear that it is not uncommon, and the situation will resolve itself.
