Question:
Looking for surgeon in NY who does belt lipectomy

I am looking for info from anyone who had a belt lipectomy or circumferential panniculectomy done by a plastic surgeon in NY. Our insurance will most likely be changing in 01/04 and I would like to think it would be easier for approval with the same ins. carrier. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.    — Jean K. I also am interested in general info on this procedure. I talked with a PS yesterday and he was thinking that was quite possible the best procedure for me along with a 2nd one to deal with the stuff above the navel. The way I am shaped and skin hangs etc. it will not be as practical to pull all the skin down if they did a panni or abdoninalplasty. I have some skin formations/stretchings that he hasn't run into before. Leave it to me! <p>He told me a panni would be about $5000, abdominalplasty about $7000, didn't give me a number for a beltlipectomy but I'm assuming about $9000 and the upper abdominal and back stuff I need around $4000. So somewhere between $12,000- $15,000 should give me a shape, and not a blob one either. LOL

I just attended a support group with a PS who showed us pictures as well as explained the different PS techniques to us. His name is Dr Josh King and practices out of Albany Medical Hospital. Janet

I had a belt lipectomy three days ago. The doctor who did the surgery is the most competent and wonderful doctor imaginable. His name is Dr. Gary Berger and has an office on 5th Ave. in Manhattan and in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The man is not to be believed. He was able to work it out that it was FULLY covered by insurance as reconstructive surgery. To compare this to the LAP-RNY of October 8, 2002 - the RNY was a much easier recovery. I am still in lots of pain, but I know the end will justify the means. I lost 134 lbs prior to belt lipectomy, am basically at goal weight. He removed 10 lbs of skin and flab. Who could ask for more?
