Question:
suggestions for managing pain

I was hoping someone may have some suggestions for me, since I have read a lot of posts about people having similiar types of pain. I am about 7 months post open from an open rny (proximal). I had my gallbladder removed the end of May (lap) and was diagnosised with a staple line disruption in June. My surgeon started me on prevacid 30 mg 2x a day to control the symptoms I was having from the sld. For the past couple of months I have been having a lot of pain that starts just under my breast bone and radiates around my lower ribs and settles in my back. It is uncomfortable to take a deep breath and I burp a lot. The prevacid was helping, originally I took it only once a day but after about a month the same symptoms were back and my surgeon increased it to 2x a day. That dose also worked for about a month, but now I am experiencing the same symptoms again. I am taking liquid maalox every couple of hours now just to control my pain. I see my surgeon on 9/18 do you guys have any medication or diet suggestions that I can try to attempt to manage this pain? Thanks so much for your time and feedback! Karen    — karen A.
