Question:
If Tricare pd for RNY will they pay for tummy tuck?

I had open RNY on 03-03-03 coverd my tricare. I am now down 95 pounds and 20 from mygoal. Since tricare paid for the open RNY shouldnt they pay for the tummy tuck as well? I am wanting to have the surgery done around Christmas time. Any help would be great!    — JenniferE (posted on August 6, 2003)

From what I understand, if you have a hernia they will pay for the TT, if you don't, well...that's another story. I know people who have been lucky and then there are those they deny without even blinking. I am sure if you have the proper documentation that they will consider it justly.

Tri-Care will not usually do a tummy tuck or any other surgery they deem cosmetic unless a health problem arises, such as a hernia or something on that order. I know with some of us it is really necessary.. tummy hanging down to the floor, boobs to our knees, etc.. but they just do not see it that way. Hopefully at some point in the future they will .. In the meantime there are some plastic surgeons that let you pay the bill off monthly.. Good luck.
